Sociology is the social science that studies all aspects of social lives of individuals, groups and societies. Social life comprises all types of purposeful human action and relations that human beings have with each other. Central to sociological enterprise is the effort to understand and explain the historical and cultural forms that these actions and relations take as well as to critically evaluate their effects on individuals, social categories, social groups and societies at large. Sociology is concerned with all kinds of micro and macro issues in this endeavour. Hacettepe University, Department of Sociology aims to contribute to this effort through its high quality educational and research activities.
