Frequently asked questions and answers about Hacettepe University Department of Sociology

Undergraduate in Sociology, Master's in Sociology, Master's in Women's and Gender Studies, and Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Sociology programs are offered.
As of the 2025-2026 Academic Year, the academic staff includes 5 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor, and 8 Research Assistants.
The Undergraduate Program is accredited by FEDEK, valid from May 2, 2024 to September 30, 2027.
Research is conducted in a wide range of areas such as family relations, gender, aging, youth, environment-ecology, migration, health, working life, urban-rural-agricultural sociology, sociology of culture, disability, art, social identity, ethnic/minority groups, crime and deviance, social change, and stratification.
The program lasts 4 years (8 semesters) in full-time education, and the language of instruction is Turkish. Optional one-year foreign language preparatory education is available for interested students.
Our department is located at Hacettepe University Beytepe Campus, Faculty of Letters, B Block, 1st Floor.
Yes, optional internship programs are available that can be completed within or outside the city.
Erasmus, Farabi, and Mevlana exchange programs are implemented.
